Colorado. This new office is now working on
the preconstruction surveys and investigations
for the MORROW POINT DAM.

Transmission line construction moves ahead
under contracts awarded this past summer. The
FLAMING GORGE-VERNAL-RANGELY l38-kv line is
more than one-half completed; the RANGELY-OAK
CREEK and the KREMMLING-GREEN MOUNTAIN llS-kv
lines and the KREMMLING-GORE TAP 69-kv line are
more than one~third completed. Construction is
in the early stages on the GLEN CANYON-SHIPROCK
230-kv line and the BLUE MESA-GUNNSION IIS-kv
line. Bids were opened on October 31 for the
BLUE MESA-CURECANTI, MORROW POINT-CURECANTI,
and CURECANTI-MONTROSE 1lS-kv lines. In October,
the Bureau of Reclamation completed negotiated
contracts with six private engineering firms for
making the preconstruction surveys to expedite
the collection of necessary technical data for
various transmission lines. Included among the
six transmission lines is the preconstruction
work on the l56-mile, steel tower, 230-kv line
from Curecanti near Gunnison, Colorado, to Craig,
Colorado.

On the COLLBRAN PROJECT, wet weather and
snow have hampered construction work on some of
the project features. Particular difficulties
encountered on the Bonham and Cottonwood pipe-
lines will delay the start of power prOduction
at the upper and Lower Molina powerplants. How-
ever, the penstock and powerplant installations
and other related features either are completed
or move toward completion.

Work goes ahead on the Lemon Dam, the prin-
cipal feature of the FLORIDA PROJECT. Construc-
tion of Lemon Dam is near one-fifth completion.

The PAONIA PROJECT is essentially com-
pleted. paonia Dam is finished, except for in-
stallation of the freight elevator for the outlet
works. During this non-irrigation season, the
lining of various sections of the Fire Mountain
Canal and construction of the Fire Mountain
Canal Extension will be underway.

I

I
