it will carry half that amount safely because
of the deep channel that has grown up. It
has dams in it - little rock dams put in there
to grade the channel which is a mistake in my
opinion - and we have never been able to get
any where in getting two outfits together such I
as the City of Denver and the Corps of Engineers
and others who should be interested, to do any-
thing about this.

Now I just throw that out for your consid-
eration while we are considering these small
projects that you talk about. This is not a
million dollar project either but it's an im-
portant one and I just thought the Board at
least ought to be apprised of that situation.
We cannot limit our releases to nondamaging
flows entirely because of our agreements with
the irrigation people below."

"To some extent, this is already in pro-
gress, Gene. About three years ago we met with
the Corps in a joint meeting with the Corps and
the various cities adjacent to Denver, at least,
that would be involved in flood control problems
and with the Intercounty Regional Planning Com-
mission and established a set of priorities for
study of these various problems. I don't remem-
ber where the Cherry Creek problem is in this
priority setup now. I know Sand Creek was at
the top of the list because of the loss of life
that was suffered out there in '57.

The Intercounty Regional Planning Commission
is pursuing this and time permitting, we intend
to get back into it and jog the Corps into get- ,
ting into this priority list which was estab-
lished at this meeting some years ago."
