These workshops included all nine that were <br />originally called for in the application including: <br /> <br />- National Hydrologic Council Conference on Flood Warning Systcms, Technologies, and Preparedness- <br />Dallas, TX (October 2003) <br />- Governor's Conferencc on Emergency Management - Broomfield, CO (February 2004) <br />- Two training sessions at the Emergency Managcment Institute - E273 Managing Development Through the <br />NFIP and E278 Community Rating System <br />- Region VIII CAP Conference - Lakewood, CO (April 2004) <br />- Association ofStatc Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Annual Conference - Biloxi, MS (May 2004) <br />- Hazards Research and Applications Workshop - Boulder, CO (July 2004) <br />- Region VIII CAP Mid-Year States Conferencc - Whitefish, MT (August 2004) <br />- Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers (CASFM) - Glenwood Springs, CO <br />(September 2004) <br /> <br />In coordination with the Colorado Office of Emergcncy Management (CO EM), a full track of six prescntations <br />were made during the Emergency Managers Conference in Broomfield, which highlighted thc federal grants <br />process and provided assistance for obtaining and administering the grants for flood-related mitigation <br />purposes. <br /> <br />The CWCB Flood Section authored 8 of the 32 breakout presentations at the CASFM conference. Topics <br />included all aspects ofthe Map Modcrnization Program, the State Drainage and Floodplain Criteria Manual, <br />Recreational In-Channel Diversions, and the NFlP Program in Colorado. In addition, Kevin Houck helped <br />teach thc review course for the CFM exam administered at the conference. According to ASFPM, 26 of the 28 <br />test-takers passed the cxam. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Two members of the CWCB attended the ASFPM and CAP conferences and three members attended the <br />CASFM conference. <br /> <br />Two additional confercnces and training were attended that were not stated in the original application. These <br />included: <br /> <br />- CAP 5-Year Plan Development Workshop - Madison, WI (Apri12004) <br />- National Flood Insurance Program Conference - Seattle, W A (May 2004) <br /> <br />All bi-monthly general meetings of CASFM were attended. <br /> <br />7. General Technical Assistance: Performed by the entire CWCB Flood Section on a consistent, ongoing basis. <br />It is estimated that over 1000 inquiries were made during the period by mail, telcphone, and email. Issues most <br />commonly addressed included insurance, Letters of Map Change (LOMC's), Engineering, and ordinance <br />assistance. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />A number of community visits were made for technical assistance that were not called for in the original <br />application. A total of 25 visits were made throughout the period to the following communities for non Map- <br />Mod Purposes (Map Mod visits are categorized separately in Item 8); Town of Meeker, Douglas County (3), <br />City of Boulder (2), Larimer County (2), Town of Saguache, City of Steamboat Springs, City of Gunnison, <br />Gunnison County, City of Greeley (3), Weld County, Town of Pierce, City of Canon City, City of Florence, <br />Fremont County, Town of Marble, Town of Crested Butte, City of Glen wood Springs, Garfield County, and <br />Montezuma County. <br /> <br />Fivc days were spent at the Colorado State Fair in the Department of Natural Resources exhibit by the Flood <br /> <br />Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Finance. Stream and Lake Protection <br />Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning <br />
