MR. BAILEY:

I

-.c.
'535

"I think a formula could be worked out. I
don-'t mind stating that I am not in favor of
the construction of Glen Canyon Dam alone."

Mr. Kelly stated that he thought Southwestern Colorado
felt the same way as expressed by Mr. Peterson.

Mr. Meek said he thought Mr. Kelly and Mr. Peterson
were both right and that he felt that no part of the Western
Slope is in favor of Glen Canyon alone.

Further discussion followed.

MR. PETERSON:

MR. BAILEY:

MR. CHIlBON:

I

MR. BAILEY:

"I would like to comment on Resolution IV.
The last sentence of this resolution says:
'In the event Colorado should desire to
substitute some other dam for Curecanti,
it was agreed that that should be done.'

"I did not know there was any proposal
or reason for making such a substitution.
That project has been carried over from
the very beginning and I do not know of
anyone, in our part of the state at least,
desiring that that should be substituted."

"I do not recall anyone from Colorado
making a statement desiring that substituion.
I believe what was meant was that whatever
Colorado wanted to do would be all right
with them--that it was entirely a Colorado
matter and, so far as the other states were
concerned, if Colorado wanted to make any
suggestions, they would not object."

"I believe that came about due to the fact
that the Colorado Water Conservation Board
first approved Cross Mountain and then
later substituted Juniper for Cross Mountain.
I think the meaning of that was that Colorado
could pick out any project they desired to
push in this bill,"

"I do not think there is any action necessary
on this."
