construction. He have reviewed and reinvesti-
gated the entire needs of the Trinidad area
with respect to irrigation, flood control,
water supply and recreation,pollution abate-
ment, and so forth, with a view to making this
project as comprehensive as possible.

\^Ie have reinvestigated the site. \tJe have
relocated a new site downstream, somewhat
below the original site. It has been drilled
out; the site has been approved by our Depart-
ment and by the state and I believe it is going
to be a very satisfactory water-tight site and
I think it will be very satisfactory to all
concerned. We have reinvestigated the flood
control requirements. We have increased the
storage requirements somewhat for flood con-
trol and the Bureau of Reclamation. as they
probably reported to you previously, have re-
investigated the needs for irrigation and
there has been some adjustment made in the
storage requirement for irrigation.

We have also reinvestigated the need for
recreation and fish and wildlife and find
there is a great need and have included a
permanent pool in this reservoir of 4500 acre-
feet. We think this is noteworthy and we are
very happy to report it.

Now we've wrapped all this up in a gen~
eral overall definite project report which is
in the hands of our higher authority at this
time. We think we'll get approval on it and
we are proceeding with detailed designs on the
project. We hope to initiate the first incre-
ment of construction about March, 1964. That
will consist of the outlet works. Following
that we will, of course, do the embankment,
spillway, etc., and we intend, based on our
present schedule, to have the job completed
for operation in about June, 1965.
