.JU::;1Y

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. JENNINGS:

Arkansas. Both come into the same stream
and if it's possible to route some of this
water through the powerplants it would seem
foolish not to do so."

"Thank you very much, Mr. Greer.

I

we'll now have a report from Region 4,
l-1r. Jennings."

"Mr. Chairman, members of the water Board,
I think you all have in your folders copies
of a rather complete report on Region 4 activi-
ties and I will try to brief that hurriedly.

As a general comment, we have had
exceptionally good construction weather this
fall. All construction work is progressing
at an expedited rate. In this business, you
know, we are torn between two desires, one is
to get a good water supply for next year and
the other is to have a good construction
season. Last year we had a good water supply
year; this year we are having a good construc-
tion season.

On Glen Canyon, that work is going ahead.
Under the prime contract, work is about 80
percent completed money-wise. The highest
block is 565 feet above bedrock. There has
been about 3,900,000 cubic yards of concrete
placed in the dam to date. Work under the
completion contract is moving ahead very
rapidly and one of the recent contracts
awarded on that job was to the Westinghouse
Electric Company in the total amount of
$1,100,000 for switchyard and substation ser-
vices for low voltage equipment.

I

Moving on to Flaming Gorge, that project
is now about 95 percent complete as far as
the prime contract is concerned and on Novem-
ber 1st we started storage in the reservoir.
As an item of interest here, the flows in the
Green River will be restricted to about 100
cubic feet per second passing through the
existing diversion tunnel until there is about
