I

I

563

~IIR. ROBERTS:

"I might make one more point here. Whatever action
is taken by the Board about these particular stations,
it may not be too desirable to tie definitely to
each one of the locations mentioned in Mr. Larson's
letter because subsequent developments may disclose
that there should be substitutions.

"We might adopt a resolution appropriating
funds for other or substitute stations of equivalent
use."

MR. BAILEY:
MR. ROBERTS:

"Does anyone wish to make a motion covering this?"

"I would be glad to make a motion approving the
use of that fund for these gaging stations with the
leeway provision I stated; and authority for the
Director to enter into the contracts with the
D.S.G.S."

r.1R. r.-rOSES:

"Second."

On vote, the motion was carried unanimously,

MR. ~~OSES:

"We should have in mind a program for obtaining
funds from now on in each Legislature for this
kind of purpose."

Mr. Crawford referred to the cut in appropriation and stated that
more support must be obtained for this program or there would be no
projects to work on when the time comes.

MR. BAILEY:

"We have all missed John Beaty. 1 think it might
be appropriate if the Board adopted a resolution
recognizing his services to this Board."

The following resolution was drafted by Mr. Pughe, Mr. Dille
and Mr. Chri sty:

WHEREAS, John Wesley Beaty, a member of the Colorado Water
Conservation Board, passed on to his great reward on April 9,
1955, after having served more than eight years in that capacity
and as a representative of the Arkansas Valley; and

liHEREAS, his great loyalty to Colorado and his area was
demonstrated in the performance of his duties on responsible
positions in complex and important negotiations with reference
to the waters of Colorado; and

vrHEREAS, through his modesty, simple patience, resolute
perseverance and deep patriotism for his State, he has contributed
so effectively in his public service to the State of Colorado that
his example is an inspiration to those who carryon;
