<br />546 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the addition of this acreage to the <br />farmland of the tribe will cont~ibute to a success <br />. of the rehabilitation program of the Southern Ute <br />Tribe by providing suitable ~ands for the youngest <br />farmers and cattlemen' of the tribe. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council <br />of Southern Utes strongly recommends that restoration <br />and inclusion of the Animas LaPlata Water Diversion Project <br />in the proposed Upper Colorado River Developnent. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this <br />resolution shall be furnished to all interested <br />parties and members of the Colorado Congressional <br />delegation. <br /> <br />This resolution was duly adopted on the 18th day <br />of April 1955. <br /> <br />Sunshine Smith,' <br />Representative Southern Ute <br />Tribal Council <br /> <br />Certification. <br />This is to certify that there were 4 of the duly <br />elected Southern Ute Councilmen present, at which <br />3 voted for and 0 against at the above meeting, <br />it being a quorum and the above resolution was <br />passed. <br /> <br />MR. McDANIEL: <br /> <br />Marilyn Condon, Tribal Secretary <br /> <br />"Our delegation is here for two purposes: <br />First, to show you members of the Board <br />that LaPlata County and our whole south- <br />west area is interested in the inclusion <br />of the Animas-LaPlata Project in the <br />present Bill in Congress; and, second, to <br />request three specific things. They are: <br />(1) Enough money be allotted by the <br />Bureau of Reclamation to complete the <br />study; (2) general approval by this Board <br />of the Project as such; and (3) to have <br />it included in the present Bill in <br />Congress. We would like to have it <br />included at the time it is introduced in <br />the House. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Thank you very much for your time and <br />your interest." <br />
