I

I

~ - J
v.J __

Mr. Roberts: "I agree with you. An early date next week
would be satisfactory. I would feel better if we could get
the endorsement of George on this."

Mr. Dutcher: "I just want to call this ~o the attention of
,the Board. Please don't overlook that this is a State agency,
this Colorado Water Conservation Board. I think that is one
of the things that has given us life and strength; that we
all give those, people an opportunity to speak. All these
years that the Board has been in existence, that is the thing
that has given the Board the strength. I think they must
have an opportunity to sit down and discuss this matter. I
don't think the time is the essence of this proposition at
all. Mr. Pughe has asked me to express his wishes and
certainly on that matter alone, we are not in a position to
take any action. I respect our friend, Mr. Petry, a great
deal but at least some gesture has been made to talk this
matter over. I hope maybe that something might come out of
it. Maybe his idea that perhaps we can get more from new
faces is good; maybe we have been in the game too long;
maybe if we had some fresh views of the situation, it might
help. I don't have any suggestions to make at the present
time as to how it can be done."

Mr. Bailey: "As far as Cross Mountain is concerned, I agree
with what Mr. Roberts said. I do think we should give
George the opportunity to talk to his people and report to
the Board. I think it would be better to come back in a few
days."

Mr. Moses: "I think it is the correct procedure since he
can't be here."

Mr. Roberts: "I am perfectly satisfied with that solution.
As long as we do it so the time won't be entirely gone after
we take the action."

Mr. Bailey: "I am going to appoint a committee of Mr. Dutcher,
Mr. Roberts, Mr. Hunter and Mr. Moses and ask this committee to
get' off in a corner and discuss this matter and work out some
means of getting the Western and Eastern Slopes together. We
will recess for about 30 minutes while this Committee is talking
this matter over."

After Recess

Mr. Bailey called the meeting to order and said, ~ls the Com-
mittee ready to report?"
