I' ~345

I

WHEREAS, a report of the participating projects has
been compiled by the United States Bureau of Reclamation,
approved, with modifications, by the Secretary of the
Interior, and submitted by him to the Congress of the
United States, and

WHEREAS, this desirable development cannot be commenced
without the authorization of the Congress of the United
States of America:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the first special
session of the thirtieth legislature of the state of Utah,
its governor concurring therein, that the Congress of the
United States of America, be and it is hereby memorialized
to promptly, diligently, and fairly consider and act upon
at this session, legislation to authorize the Colorado
river storage project and participating projects, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that certified copies hereof be
promptly transmitted to the President and Vice President
of the United States, the Speaker of the House of
Representatives of said Congress, United States Senator
. Arthur V. Watkins, United States Senator Wallace F.
Bennett, Representative in Congress William A. Dawson
and Representative in Congress Douglas R. Stringfellow,
to the Secretary of the Interior, the Commissioner of
Reclamation, the upper Colorado river compact commissio~,
and to the governors and legislatures of the following
states: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

I

Mr. Dutcher: "I think that is a marvelous resolution. I don't
see why the State of Colorado cannot take similar action for
the State of Colorado to make their various comments as to
what the people decide to do in the future, just as quickly
as we can get together."

Mr. Breitenstein: "Of course, you realize that hearings will
begin in the house on January 18. The program which you
outline is of doubtful feasibility, unless specific
recommendations can be made prior to the time these hearings
close. You will have to make your wishes known on all hearings
before they close."

Mr. Dutcher: ."How long will the hearings continue?"

Mr. Breitenstein: "I don't know."
