"~tr. Nelson, members of the Water Board
and gentlemen, I think, as I followed along
the conversation here and the remarks that
have been made, I'm like the other fellows -
the irrigators - dOwn there. We want something
that will show us we are absolutely taken care
of as far as evaporation and where they get
the water so that nobody is hurt on the deal.

And swinging into the other thing in
that background, I've been listening to this
sedimentation. There's one thing we've got
there that we're not using and that's our.
watershed deal. It can take care of an awful
lot of that on these side streams, like Tim
Creek and Crooked Arroyo (I got washed out a
few years ago there, and I can speak person-
ally on Crooked Arroyo; it cost me about
$30,000 in one year). It's not a case that
it's the amount of sedimentation that comes
down through there and with small dams we
can cut off an awful lot of that,no matter
whether it's Caddoa or what dam it is, but
it would do an awful lot to protect your
sedimentation down there. You take those
small dams with the. outlet pipes, instead of.
coming down in a few hours, it would come down.
possibly in 24 hours, or 36, or. according to
.how full it is and those dams, when they fill I.
up to the pipes, in years past, or years to
come, with sedimentation,. you can take a
carryall possibly in the winter time and clean
those out every 8 or 10 years or whatever you
have to do.
