Groundwater Resource Mapping Program <br /> <br />Beneficiary/G rantee/Contractor: <br />Amount of Request: <br /> <br />CWCB, Various, Colorado Geological Survey <br />$120,000 Ranking: <br /> <br />High <br /> <br />Product Produced: The purpose of this program is to collect and map groundwater resource data on a <br />scale useful for local planning and decision-making. The Groundwater Atlas, recently produced, <br />identified the need for collecting and publishing detailed hydrogeological data on a regional scale <br />throughout the state. A need has been identified to focus on local details of groundwater resources for <br />decision making at the local level. This mapping program will develop hydrogeologic quadrangle maps <br />beginning with high priority areas on a long-term basis to meet these needs. Each map requires <br />approximately $20,000 to complete the fieldwork and publication. <br /> <br />Water Planning Relationship: This program would assist local entities in land-use decision-making <br />and long-term water supply planning by providing detailed groundwater resource information. <br /> <br />Recommendation: Staff gives a high recommendation to this project because of its importance in <br />local water planning efforts. <br /> <br />5. Native Species Conservation <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Beneficiary/G rantee/Contractor: <br />Amount of Request: <br /> <br />CWCB, Various <br />$60,000 <br /> <br />Ranking: <br /> <br />High <br /> <br />Product Produced: This program would help to pay for activities designed to provide regulatory <br />stability to the Endangered Species Act. The Native Species Conservation Trust Fund, which was <br />utilized to provide regulation, is nearly depleted and funds are necessary to continue implementing the <br />regulatory activities. <br /> <br />Water Planning Relationship: <br />through its regulatory activities. <br />effective. <br /> <br />The Endangered Species Act impacts statewide water planning <br />The lack of funds could be detrimental if this regulation was not <br /> <br />Recommendation: Staff gives a high recommendation to funding for this program in order for this <br />regulatory function to continue to be effective until other sources of funding can be implemented. <br /> <br />6. Tamarisk Control <br /> <br />Beneficiary/G rantee/Contractor: <br />Amount of Request: <br /> <br />CWCB, Various, Tamarisk Coalition <br />$50,000 Ranking: <br /> <br />Low <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Product Produced: This program would be to continue funding to the Tamarisk Coalition for <br />planning and eventual eradication of Tamarisk .in accordance with the Governor's Tamarisk Control <br />Plan. The current program would concentrate on the Colorado and Arkansas River Basins to map <br />regions of Tamarisk and prioritize those areas that impact water usage. <br /> <br />5 <br />
