<br />~~b <br /> <br />RESOLUTION FOR CONSIDERATION OF THE <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />at its .meeting in January, 1957 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, proper beneficial use of underground water in <br />Colorado constitutes a major problem for the people of Colo- <br />rado, the General Assembly of the State of Colorado and the <br />Cblorado Water Conservation Board, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, several bills for the regulation of under- <br />ground water are being prepared for submission to the General <br />Assembly of Colorado at its coming session, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board in <br />cooperation with the United States Geological Survey has made <br />extensive investigations as to ground water and ground water <br />use in Colorado, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado State College of Agricultural <br />and Mechanical Arts has made extensive investigations of under- <br />ground water for the last twenty-five years, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado State College of Agricultural <br />and Mechanical Arts is also cooperating with the Production <br />Economics Research Branch, Agriculture Research Service, United <br />States Department of Agriculture in an economic survey of ground <br />water problems at the present time, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, seventeen western states have by statute pro- <br />vided for some measure of supervision of the use of underground <br />water rights, and <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an urgent present need exists for the collation <br />and compilation of all available engineering, geological, legal <br />and economic information relative to the ground water problems <br />of the South Platte basin, the San Luis Valley basin and Arkansas <br />Valley basin, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ground water research will become important to <br />the North Platte basin and the Western Slope, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all available information will be needed by <br />the General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Governor of <br />Colorado, the Colorado Water Conservation Board and numerous <br />cities, municipalities, irrigation districts, conservancy dis- <br />tricts and mutual ditch companies as well as farmers in Colorado, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Watershed Association has been <br />recently organized to inventory needs and supplies of water in <br />Colorado including underground water resources, <br />
