Dean Crawford gave his reasons for each increase on
this Addendum and discussion was held regarding same.

"Does the recent survey of the Civil
Service positions include these particular
positions. We are almost at the mercy of
the Civil Service Commission on any raises
in salaries."

"I should like to move that the Director
be authorized to request an additional mem-
ber to his staff who may be either a hydro-
logist or engineer and that I ,use every
effort to Secure higher classification for
the two engineers now employed."

"Is there a possibility for a new posi-
tion to be created that would entail more
duties?"

"No, not unless we put it above that
of the Chief Engineer. I should like to
have the backing of the Board in asking
for this."

"I second the motion."

"Is there any other discussion on this
Addendum? Question."

"Question."

Upon vote, the motion was unanimously passed.

funds to assist the Bureau of Reclamation.
Dean Crawford, may we hear your report on
this subject."

'~e were granted an appropriation of
$100,000 for this purpose in the current
budget. The situation with regard to that
$100,000 is this. The Governor put the
'stop sign on the $25,000 for the Closed
Basin studies, which left $75,000; $8,000
