MR. BELL:

"No, sir, that is not exact~y right.
While the budget has been submitted it
has not yet been approved and there have
been times in the past when the Gongres~
sional Delegations from the States have
had the budget increased over.and above
the budget submitted."

MR. PETERSON:

"De~n Crawford, my suggestion to your
motion was not to increase it to $100,000.
I said the ceiling would be $100,000 but
any figure which the Federal could match,
say $55,000 or $60,000 or so, could be
matched by the State."

MR. r-10SES:

"How would it be to authorize the Di~
rector to increase the budget request by
such an amount not exceeding $60,000
when, after consulting with the Geologi-
cal Survey he finds how much matching
fundswill be available from the Federal."

Mr. Williams raised the question about understanding
as to the amount to be spent in Fiscal Year 1958 and the amount
to be spent in Fiscal Year 1959. This was discussed at some
length and interpreted by the Vice-Chairman and several of the
members of the Board, as well as Governor-elect j'1cNichols."

McNICHOLS:

"I suggest that we ask for $50,000
for fiscal year 1958 and $100,000 in fis-
cal year 1959 or so much thereof as can
be employed in matching Federal funds."

)1m. MOSES:

"The motion has been amended to read"
to request $50,000'for fiscal year 1958
and $100,000 for fiscal year 1959 or so
much thereof as can be employed in match-
ing Federai funds. Is there a second to
the amended motion?"

MR. PETERSON: "I second the motion as arvended. "
MR. MOSES: "Question.""
MR. STAPLETON: "Question. "
Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously.

MR. MOSES:

"The next item on the agenda is the
underground water code but I am going to
take the liberty of asking that we take
up No. 5 next and then go back to the
