middle of that area it's about a forty-foot
span, say it's a sixty~foot span, to take
all the flood waters of Bear Creek. I don't
think I-Ie, as a Board, regardless of the injury
it does to people that o~m property, for
speculation or otherwise, should let people be I
complacent about areas where they might live
that are in flood plains as dangerous as I
think Bear Creek is.

I realize I am expanding that but I thiruc
this is a part of the obligations of the Board
and I am sure property owners will resent our
calling attention to any specific area. I
\'lorried about Sand Creek, the airport and
Aurora. The Corps of Engineers have assured
me that even a large house or a roof can go
through the conduits under the nel'l runway or
that they are large enough to back over and
not interfere with the new terminal building.
But all these things are important and as long
as everybody is interested in them and not
just the people that got hurt this time, I
think in all the areas we are going to get
something effectively done for the first time.

I am sure Ray Noses has the concensus of
what I am thinking about and it will be very easy
to draft those into the resolution if the
Board thought they \-lere desirable. But those
are some comments I had and maybe other members
of the Board - Frank Hilenski has some com-
ments."

NR. HILENSla:

"Ben, Mr. Dugan made the statement he
would like to see some Bureau money included
in this. I would like to see some in there
too. He have signed a $l7l million repayment
contract on the Fryingpan-Arkansas and it
looks like the Bureau is going to be with us
a long, long time, at least fifty years or
longer, and I certainly think that they should
be included in this picture too."
