.'i'.GJ'O

funded these studies as adequately as he can
in relation to his commitments nationally and
the limited amount of money appropriated for
this type of program each year, which is
presently $l million a year. So in Volume IV
we will be treating with vleir Gulch, Lakewood I
Gulch, Sanderson Gulch and Little Dry Creek
and Big Dry Creek in Arapahoe county. vie hope
to get this report completed as quickly as
possible. The delay being presently because
of the terrific workload we will have and the
need for accurate stream survey data.

Getting on to our planning with respect
to actual critical flood control work. This report initially was
scheduled to be completed in June of this year.
However, in April of this year we had a field
review with our headquarters of the Missouri
River Division and pointed out our concern of I
tl1e danger of the type of flooding that just
hit Denver this last June. On the basis of
our field revie,., report 'co General 1'1alker, he
instructed us to proceed with more detailed
planning for the protection of Denver, more
detailed cost estimates, and to report back to
his office as quickly as possible. lc1hen the
