DATA COLLECTION AND REVIEW

Task Element No: Ib

LRCVIE data co11 ection and review activities.

Purpose: LRCWE collection of information to which it has
efficient access.

Approach:

1. A list of publications relating to the Rio Grande Basin
which are conta ined in the LRCWE 1 ibrary will be prepared.
A computerized 1 iterature search will be performed to
identify reports not found in the LRCWE 1 ibrary. This
list will be made available to the USBR.
2. Diversion and storage records to be summarized by the
USBR in Task Ic(4) will be spot checked against records
from the State Engineers Office and will be transferred
to the LRCWE computer system.
3. The U.S.G.S. WATSTORE system will be used to efficiently
transfer streamflow gaging records to the LRCWE computer
system for use in this study (additional records to
those collected for Task Ia).
4. The 1984 State Engineers' tabulations of water rights
(currently at LRCWE offices) for the Rio Grande Basin
will be reviewed. A computerized listing of the Rio
Grande mainstem water rights will be transferred from
the State's computer and placed in a data base for}
selective searching and sorting.
5. C1 imato1ogica1 (temperature and precipitation) records
will be collected for use in consumptive use calculations.
6. The LRCWE library has most of the annual reports of the
Rio Grande Compact Commission. The most recent reports
will be obtained to complete the period of record.
7. Existing information on groundwater use in the Rio
Grande Basin related to the State Engineer's recent
groundwater model ing effort will be collected.
8. Assist the USBR in their acquisition and review of
previous studies made in the basin (Task Ie). Results
of the USBR's reviews will be reviewed by LRCWE staff.
9. Gather satellite imagery of the Rio Grande Basin.

Work Product: Summary of the information sources and
organization of the information obtained.
