Based on LRCWE experience in similar determinations of
storable flow, a list of the pertinent data requirements
for the study will be prepared.
2. Monthly surface water records at major gaging stations
in the study area will be collected and statistically
analyzed for the determination of an appropriate study
period and model calibration period. These records
will be obtained from the U.S.G.S. WATSTORE system,
from published U.S.G.S. reports or from summaries
contained in the reports of the Rio Grande Compact
Commission. A brief review of study periods used in
other studies will also be conducted. A memorandum
discussing the study period selection process and a
recommended study period and calibration period will be
prepared. While the study period will likely include
the dry years in the mid-1950's, it is 1 ikely that the
simulation model will be calibrated for a shorter and
more recent period due to lack of record availability.
3. Guidelines for the USBR's data collection effort will
be prepared containing the types of information required
for the study and the desired format (computer if
possible) for transfer to LRCWE. Monthly data is
appropriate for use in a this study of storable flows.

Work Product: flemoranda discussing the data required and
the recommended study period. The study schedule is premised
on a one week review period of the recommended study period
by study sponsors and subsequent approval.

5

~ Leonard Rice Consulting Water Engineers, Inc.
