The reservoirs store approximately 64,413
acre feet of water. Clark Lake (Reservoir No . 13) is one of
the storage facilities. It is located approximately three (3)
miles Northeast of the Town of Wellington in Larimer County.
The reservoir has a decree for 2,295 acre feet of
storage with a priority date of 1901. Refill decrees ,were
granted in 1921 for one refill.
PROBLEM

Primary water storage is not the most important func-
tion of Clark Lake. It is used as a regulating pool to equal-
ize the quantity of water delivered downstream and to make
those deliveries in a timely manner. It is also subject to
inflows of floodwaters. The filling restriction to gage height
five feet (5') leaves the regulating pool so small that its use
is severely limited. Raising the embankment five feet (5')
would increase the size of the pool and also provide more stor-
age to contain floodwaters. Since the construction of this
reservoir, it has filled with about 20 feet of sediment.
The dam and outlet works were originally constructed
in 1905. The embankment is a homogenous earthfill dam 33 feet
high at the maximum section, with a crest length of 2,300 feet.
