,

" -.

.;

INTERIM PAYMENT REQUEST FORM

NARRA TIVE

In the space below, please outline the progress of your grant program. Please include those items shown
on your workplan that have been completed or any other comments you feel need to be addressed.
The "SILT CAN SAVE" water conservation project is progressing very well. Data collection
on' water p~oduction and consumption has been a little slow due to purchasing delays
as well as kit construction. However, this information is 70% computerized, and can be
finished in very short order. The biggest problem so far has been in water kit distribution.
The kits were constructed (including consumer cover letter and survey) on time, but
getting households to come in before September was a bit of a problem. As Silt is a
bedroQm community, many households only'come.to'City'"Hall if'there 'is.a bill to payor
a sim!lar problem. Therefore we have seen a significant rise in kit distribution in the
first week of September, roughly 200% to 300% over the August workplan schedule. This
has led us to alter the distribution deadline to the end of September, as people get
their waterbills the first week of September and will come in contact with City Hall:
directly. Near the end of the month., hand deliveries of kits will take place to those
homes who have not yet received a kit. .

Publicity has not been a problem, so exposure to the project has been good. The town
newsletter has featured it every month and will continue to do so throughout the
duration of the project. The local papers have both kindly ran articles just prior to
the official kick-off in early August.

Even though the town is one month behind in water'consumption/production monitoring,
the extra month will be well worth the delay in terms of number of people participating
in the project. It is felt that 70 to 90% installation can be reached during the
month of September, and the remaining kits will be given to local businesses with
multiple fixtures as well as homes which would like an extra kit.

Overall, the Silt water project is moving along very well, and we anticipate good things
in the next year or two. The word is spreading around town that the kits are free via the
State of Colorado, and residents who have already installed are very pleased with the kit.
Total interim payment requested:J.~t. 5 95.00

Prepared by:

Approved by:

John L.
