An annual amount of $45,000 is <br />budgeted for main replacements. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Unusual water "spikes" are identified by billing clerks and a pamphlet on <br />water conservation is sent to the customer. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />An after-hours "hot line" at the police department has been established to <br />report water leaks. Water utility staff are notified within an hour. <br /> <br />The Parks Department has planted a Xeriscape demonstration garden at the south <br />end of Benedict Park. The garden contains about 100 species of low water-use shrubs, <br />trees, perennials, and grasses and is watered with drip irrigation. Tags next to the plants <br />identify each specie.
