According to City staff, growth has averaged six percent
annually over the past two years. In 1996, treatment plant production averaged about
160 gallons per capita per day (gpcd). Estimated water production characteristics for the
ten-year period, 1997 through 2006, are shown in the tabulation below. Separate
projections are shown for 2.5 percent and six percent annual growth. These projections
are based on the following estimated water usage patterns:

Average Day Production
Maximum Day to Average Day Ratio

160 gpcd
2.40

Annual 2.5 Percent Growth

Treated Water Production

Year

Population

Annual
(l,000 gal)

1996

20,000

1,148,140

Annual
(acre-feet)

3,524

Average Day
(mgd)

3.14

Maximum Day
(mgd)

6.69

1997 20,500 1,197,200 3,674 3.28 7.87
1998 21,010 1,227,000 3,766 3.36 8.06
1999 21,540 1,257,900 3,861 3.45 8.28
2000 22,080 1,293,000 3,968 3.53 8.47
2001 22,630 1,321,600 4,056 3.62 8.69
_u________. 2002 23,200 1,354,900 4,158 3.71 8.90
2003 23,780 1,388,800 4,262 3.80 9.12
2004 24,370 1,427,100 4,380 3.90 9.36
2005 24,980 1,458,800 4,477 4.00 9.60
2006 25,600 1,495,000 4,588 4.10 9.84

City of Brighton, Colorado
March 1997.34619.100

5

Report on Water
Conservation Plan
