)

LEAK DETECTION:

The District has no active leak detection effort ongoing.
However, we are keeping the data necessary to monitor our
efficiency. Numbers are available to look at system efficiency
and we are working toward a process and system that can actively
examine leakage and loss by area. Fire hydrants on the
District's system are not metered. They are provided as a
resource to assist fire departments and districts in fire
protection efforts. The District does not support or guarantee
water for fire protection. All fire hydrants are wire sealed to
monitor illegal use of water from the hydrants. Fire departments
and district have been asked to notify the District when a
hydrant has been used.

WEEPS, OVERHEAD CROSSINGS, ADMINISTRATIVE LOSS:

In serving the rural areas of the District, it is necessary to
cross irrigation canals and laterals, drains, rivers, and creeks.
Because our District lies in an area where cold temperatures are
the norm and low volume use is likely, we are forced to waste or
weep water from some lines to prevent overhead crossings from
freezing. The District makes every effort to limit overhead
crossings in remote areas and we are in the process of replacing
these sorts of crossings to prevent future administrative waste.

)

Periodically, it may be necessary to flush distribution lines to
insure safe drinking water. The District makes every effort to
limit the need for flushing by consolidating distribution to get
as many users as possible on any given line.

WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES:

1.) Water-efficient fixtures and appliances;
The District does not have any active programs to
promote the use of these types of fixtures. However,
the District stays tuned in to the availability of
t-'hlCll.Qt::A T'''; yr'1T't::J.J::I ;:ann ::Idrls.es--cu-s..tom.ers to the bene-f.-i---t.-s------
when asked.

2.) Low water use landscapes and efficient irrigation;
Uncompahgre Valley Project water is available to most
customers on the District's system as we are '
predominately a rural domestic water supplier.
Irrigation water is usually available and the District
encourages the use of this water in an efficient and
responsible manner. The District staff is competent in
irrigation design and provides technical guidance to
the extent possible.

)

5
