'.'

3. The Guide will be available for use and distribution by
private sector landscapers and nurseries.

4. Development of steamboat Sprinqs Planninq Commission Landscape
Guidelines;

5. Results will be of interest to and will be presented at
regional and national professional meetings.

The project meets all CWCB criteria:

1. The project is innovative and timelY as the City implements
metered water rates; develops a public education program to prepare
the community for metered rates and opportunties for prudent water
usage; develops city-wide landscape guidelines; and educates the
community regarding opportunities to exercise prudent water usage
in lieu of treatment plant expansions. Our research indicates this
will be the first comprehensive water conservation project tailored
for Colorado 1 s Western Slope and, specifically, for a tourism
community.

2. The project is replicable to other communities and local
governments in Northwest Colorado and Western Colorado.

3. The project is a high priority for the City of Steamboat Springs
and will be coordinated by Dan Birch, City utilities Director and
City Engineer.

4. All grant funds are intended for project implementation;
administrative costs are assumed by the City.

- ]-__ 'm___ __ ____
- --~~_. ---~- --- -- --
