The maximum day ratio is calculated as the ratio
between the amount of water produced on the highest use day to the average day use
for a given year. Sterting's peak day generally occurs during July, when outdoor
watering is at a high. The maximum day ratio has varied from 2.4 to 2.7, with an
average of 2.5.

As shown in Table 8 the highest peak day demand occurred in 1995, reaching 9.2 mil-
lion gallons, or 85 percent of the City's production capacity. This was due to hot
weather, when lawn irrigation was at its highest.

Table 8 - Peak Daily Water Production

Variable 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 AVG
Ava. dally annual use 2.6 2.8 3.1 3.7 39 33
Peal; day use 7.5 7.6 7.9 6.7 9.2 62
Mcx. day ratio 2.7 2.7 25 2.4 2.4 25
Dote of Peak 18-Jul 22-Jul .29-Jun 1-Jul 1-Sep 25-Jul
Day of .Peak Thur. For Sterting, approximately
70 percent of annual water production occurs from April to October. The amount of
precipitation during the watering season greatly affects the amount of water produced.
Although precipitation can affect overall water demand, it does not necessarily effect
peak day demand.

WaterlWastewater Master Plan

The City is planning to complete a comprehensive water and wastewater Master Plan
Update in the future: After evaluating water and sewer system needs to aeeommodate- .
future system requirements, a prioritized list of five-year capital improvement projects
will be developed.

Domestic Water Storage

Sterting has four storage tanks for domestic water storage. The tanks help equalize
pressure in the distribution system, meet peak hour demands and provide water for fire
protection. The four tanks are: West Tank # 1 (2.5 million gallons), West Tank #2 rr
million gallons), North Elevated Tank (250 thousand gallons), and South Elevated Tank
(250 thousand gallons).

Page29
