S A;VI? L.E LETf'eg:2-
TO {}.oo (O? L<JIf-TI= f? U~

.

November 6, 1998

Dear Westminster Resident,

The City of Westminster would like to apprise you of an upcoming survey of residential
water use, conservation, and landscape design that is being conducted by a geography
research class at the University of Colorado, Boulder. <<BROCHURE
RECIPIENTS>>The survey is a follow-up to the outdoor water efficiency brochure you
received several months ago, and is being done in cooperation with the University of
Colorado and the Boulder Energy Conservation Center. <<NON-RECIPIENTS>>The
survey is part of an outdoor water efficiency study done in cooperation with the University
of Colorado and the Boulder Energy Conservation Center. A pair of students may come to
your home to ask if you are willing to participate in an on-site survey at one of the
following times:

.

Wednesday, November II from 3:30-5:30pm

Friday, November 13 from 12pm-6pm

Saturday, November 14 from lOam-6pm

Sunday, November IS from 12pm-6pm

Saturday, November 21 from lOam-6pm

The survey lasts approximately thirty minutes and consists of a series of questions as well
as a landscape analysis that includes taking a photo of your front and back yards. Students
will provide feedback on your landscape and water usage profiles along with literature on
water conservation at the time of survey. And in addition to the potential savings on your
water bill, you will receive a $10 credit on your next bill if you participate in the survey.

The survey data would become part of the City's water usage database and will assist the
City in developing its water conservation program. In addition to providing this useful
information to the City of Westminster, the project will be a valuable learning experience
for students in geography and environmental studies at the University of Colorado.

If, however, you do not want to participate, please call Water Resources Associate Katie
Parrot at the City of Westminster (303) 430-2400 x2184 by Tuesday November 10, 1998.
You are also certainly free to decline to participate if and when students do contact you.

Thank you for your help with the City's water conservation program.

.

~J~\1~~~

Kelly DiNatale
Water Resources Manager
