WATER SUPPLY OPERATIONS/CONSERVATION
1993 WORK PROGRAM

1.

Shift emphasis from acquiring additional water supplies to more efficiently operating the
existing system for maximization of yield, minimizing operation costs of the raw water
system, and promoting water conservation.

2.

Continue monitoring water consumption of the City's customers to increase knowledge
of water use patterns.

3.

Maintain the recently updated Water Supply/Demand analysis, including establishing a
comprehensive database of the City's land use, zoning, and population data for use in
subsequent supply/demand water forecasting.

4.

Improve operational efficiency of the water supply system.

5.

Prepare the 1993 utility rate analysis for Arvada.

6.

Continue to research and identify new raw water projects which have the potential of
being developed within the next five to ten years.

7.

Continue protecting the City's water supplies via monitoring and/or participating in water
rights cases.

8.

Protect groundwater supplies underlying Arvada for possible future usage.

9.

Identify potential winter return flow reservoir sites and proceed towards acquisition of
the land.

10.

Use existing decreed water rights to fill Arvada Reservoir; maximize utilization based
. . - on- oosf efIecuveness and Oroug-nneserVes: - - --- - - - " - - - - - - - .

11.

Continue operation of the Arvada Reservoir Dam Safety Program to ensure the safety of
the reservoir embankment.
