The number of Board of W ater Works customers (families & businesses)
total 35,389 (not to be confused with population which is 103,481). Once the water
saving devices are installed throughout Pueblo's service area, the total estimated
yearly water savings from these low flow devices will be 33,945 gallons x 35,389
customers or 1.201.279.605 Irallons per Year. Low water use landscapes and efficient irrigation

Pueblo's policies related to landscape and horticultural changes are presently
confined to newly developed commercial, industrial and multi-family building sites.
These changes are designed to decrease the lawn irrigation use on these sites.
These changes are aimed at using less water without losing the aesthetic appeal
that homeowners and businessmen demand. Landscape water saving changes are
primarily of two types: (1) Changes in the planning of a landscape and (2) Changes
in the maintenance of a landscape. The Board recognizes that Pueblo's landscaped
areas can be designed to use less water more efficiently than the traditional
landscape and that these methods are technically feasible and can be instituted in
almost any area ofthe city.

The landscape and horticultural changes can provide a water savings of anywhere
from 0% to 100% of the current lawn watering usage. This range of savings is
directly related to the degree of change that can be made. This water efficiency tool
is one the Board will continue to utilize and evaluate. These landscape changes can

-13-
