HOW INE PLAN TO GET THERE

Many strategies and rrethods will be implerrented to accomplish these goals. The
rrethods range from becoming public educators to helping custorrers eliminate waste and
use water wisely. However, this plan will succeed only with the willing participation of
our custorrers, in reducing water waste and increasing water efficiency. The water
conservation strategies are arranged in the following categories:

. Green Mountain Water facilities
. Govemrrent facilities
. Businesses and Institutions

. Residential: Single-Family
. Residential: Multi-family
. General Applicability

Each category of user will be expanded to indude relevant uses within that
category such as landscaping, cooling and heating, car washes, laundromats, office
buildings, health care centers, hospitals, fire stations, public vvorks & roads, schools, parks
and medians, etc. This criteria may be arrended or expanded as necessary to make
wise decisions about water use in this conmunity.

Selection of Strategies

1. Identify available resources, legal considerations, and responsibility for illlllerren-
tation of the program. Is it feasible to implement?
- - - -- - - -T- --JustifYin~f tne -resources-Trraney,Sfaff,eqUlprrenlfrequlred-foimplemenfffie --
program. Compare other options. Is the program cost-effective in the long term?
3. Indude methods of determining success or failure. Identify indirect savings if the
program will not illllrove water efficiency. Is success of the program measurable?
4. WII the program result in sustainable water savings by encouraging long-term
water conservation? WII initial efficiencies continue in the future?
5. Catalog necessary uses of water. Emphasize reducing water waste and improving
water use efficiency rather than dictating conmunity needs and preferences.

6
