WHERE lIVE ARE TODA YI
Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District currently divides its service area into
only two categories, residential and commercial. Current vvater use analysis indicates that
in the service area, single-family demand is approximately 65% of the total annual vvater
demand. Only a small percentage (betlNeen 2.5% and 5%) is unaccounted for, whereas
the balance is made up of conrnercial use of 3D%.

People and Resources

People fonn the foundation for this Water Use Efficiency Plan. The District's plan
to increase vvater use efficiency is a product of corrm.mity involvement and district
corrmitment. The voices of the citizens, neighborhood organizations, and vvater-
conscious civic leaders are important in our search for solutions to vvater conservation.

WHERE lIVE WANT TO BE

Green Mountain would like to provide all the vvater needs for the uses desired by
the colTlnmity in a manner as efficient as current knowledge and technology (t8flllered
by reasonable cost considerations) will allow.

Based upon current growth projections of the service area, Green Mountain, in
cooperation with its customers, would irrplement a plan to save vvater annually through
-- - - - - -- - --- ----- --~- ------ - ----- ----- - --------- --------- - -- - --- - -- ---- - --
vvater conservation programs and education. Water conserved will help ensure availability
in the future.

Conservation means different things to different people depending on their
respective uses and needs for vvater. By the end of 1997, the district will establish a
desired bench mark for reduction in use for both single family and multi-family dv.ellings
and identify opportunities and potential savings for conrnercial, institutional, and industrial
users. Once the bench mark is established, the district will be able to measure and
analyze realistic savings and will be able to make more reliable projections.

5
