<br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Social SelVices Building, located at 1575 Shennan Street, was originally constructed in <br />1953. The 145,000 square foot building was acquired by the State of Colorado in 1964, and <br />was renovated in 1987. <br /> <br />This 10 story building houses the offices for most social selVice activities of the State of <br />Colorado~ Approximately 560 employees work in the building Monday through Friday. In <br />addition to regular employees, approximately 100 visitors use the building each working day. <br /> <br />Eddie Hernandez of Denver Water visited this facility on March 3, 1993 to obtain <br />infonnation regarding water use. Infonnation about water use practices were provided by <br />Larry Pokrynka. <br /> <br />EXISTING WATER CONSUMPTION <br /> <br />The Social SelVices Building receives its water from Denver Water, supplied through a <br />single tap and meter. This meter is read monthly. Water consumption data for 1990, 1991 <br />and 1992 are listed in Table I and presented graphically in Figure l. <br /> <br /> Ian Fob Mar Apr May Iun Jul. Estimates of water usage in each of these <br />categories are discussed in the following paragraphs. <br /> <br />Domestic Use - Domestic use is mainly restroom usage. There are a total of 66 flush-valve <br />toilets, 22 urinals, and 44 lavatory sinks in the restrooms. Water consumption for these <br />ftxtures was estimated or measured as follows: toilets = 3.5 gallons per flush, urinals = 2.0 <br />gallons per flush, and lavatory sinks = 2.5 gpm. <br />
