These programs touch upon most of the
areas suggested in the State of Colorado Water Conservation Act of 1991 (HBl154). These
efforts are accomplished by a versatile staffwho wear many hats.

A city of Golden's relatively small size (population 14,931) has many wonderful advantages.
One of the advantages is that everyone is your neighbor. This enables a strong sense of
community to exist. It allows for easier communication, interaction and involvement. It is the
reason for the effectiveness of the City's efforts in spite of a limited staff and budget.
At this time, no staff or budget has been designated solely for the advancement of water
conservation. It is likely that any change from this status will be a gradual one. That will not
deter the City from moving forward towards its goal of continued abundance of safe drinking
water for future generations.

-10-
