)

Town of Castle Rock
Water Conservation Plan

. American Water Works Association Water Reuse Conference - The Town
sent a representative to this conference to investigate current reuse issues.
Since his return from the conference, Engineer Dan Bare has given several
presentations to Town personnel, commissions, and council to share the
information he learned, This information will also be used in the upcoming
revision of the Water Resource Management plan to expand the Town's
analysis of reuse as a whole.

5. Distribution system leak repair

. The Town has been conducting leak detection utilizing an ultrasonic method
which detects noise or vibration created from a leak for the past six years.
Each year we have been able to calculate the amount of leakage based on the
results of that survey. Following is a table indicating footage tested,
calculated water loss in gallons per day, and unaccounted for or lost water as
calculated using production meters and retail sales, including bulk water sales
and dollars budgeted and spent each year. Our target is to cover 100% of the
system every two years. Current monies are budgeted so that half of the
distribution system will be tested each year. That figure may vary, depending
on the area of the system to be examined.

)

10
