SUMMARY: <br /> <br />GOALS <br /> <br />A, To develop a hands-on. field oriented. water conservation curriculum <br />which will be used at the lewis-Palmer Middle School in grades six. seven. <br />and eight, Segments of the curriculum will be used in a general community <br />educational program, <br />B, To develop a water conservation ethic in the younger generation as well <br />as throughout the community, <br />C, To develop brochures. presentations. and conservation classes for the <br />general community, <br />D, To make items and information available that will conserve water <br />throughout the district, <br /> <br />AN INITIAL GENERAL OlJTUNE OF THE PROGRAM <br /> <br />The following outline of the program is a first attempt at <br />determining the topics and methods that may be included as part of the <br />school curriculum and the general public program, It is expected that <br />additional topics will be included as both programs are developed and <br />finalized, <br /> <br />CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />Tbe Water Cycle In The Tri-Iakes Area - modeling, <br />Atmospheric - observation. experimentation, <br />Collect weather data (computer link. weather station), <br />Complete atmospheric experiments in class concerning <br />states of water, <br />Discuss climatic data for the Tri-lakes region and relate <br />to the use of water by the local community, <br />Surface - field investigation of local stream and ponds <br />(wetlands) , <br />look at the local watershed by measuring the area and <br />finding the location of water bodies, See how life <br />relates to the water, <br />look at plants. animals. and water (Wildlife Habitat) near <br />the school, <br />look for water uses which are providing a proper <br />environment and those that are not providing a <br />proper environment for wildlife, What are tbe basic <br />needs of wildlife? Compare with people use of water, <br />
