<br />4,1 Water efficient fixtures and appliances <br /> <br />4,1.1 Cunentmeasures <br />NWCWD docs DOt impose p1wnbing fixture regulations that are more restrictive than those <br />established bythc "Energy Policy Actof1992" for Larimer County customers or C,R.S.9-1.3-102(3) <br />for Weld County oustomexs, <br />The Pub1ic law 102-486, "Energy Policy Actof1992", establishes the maximum water use <br />forplumbing fixtUIes IlIIIID1fiu:tme after J8Il1.l8IY 1, 1994, The Act established the maximum flow for <br />showeJ:beads and faucets at 2 V. gallons per minute and toilets at 1.6 gallons per flush, The Act also <br />requires for all new construction that water efficient fixtures and appliances be implemented. <br />CRS. 9-1,3-102(3) allows tank-type water closets flush with a maximum of 3 V. gallons of <br />water. Showerl:ads fur bathing have a maximum flow capacity of 3 gallons per minute and lavatory <br />and sink faucets have a maximum flow capacity of2 V. gallons per minute, <br /> <br />4.1.2 Future measures <br />NWCWD does not anticipate requiring replacement of plumbing fixtures manufactured prior <br />to Janwuy 1, 1994, nor does it plan to implement an incentive program to encourage customers to <br />replace old water fixtures and appliances. As homes and businesses are remodeled, water efficient <br />fixtures and appliances will replace older models. <br /> <br />4.2 Low water-use landscape and efficient irrigation <br /> <br />4,2.1 Cunent measures <br />NWCWD currently does not require the use of low water landscaping or water efficient <br />irrigation although the office landscaping requires zero watering, <br /> <br />4.2,2 Future measures <br />NWCWD plans on using the newsletter format to inform the public about low water-use <br />lAn1l""'lping and efficient irrigation. The District also is considering working with an area libraIy to <br />make low water-use landscape information available thru a public libraIy, NWCWD may consider <br />a watering PIan. oddIeven and no mid day watering plan. Also several of the municipalities that <br />NWCWD serves through a master meter have already imp1emepted water restrictions. <br /> <br />4.3 Water-efficient Industrial and Commercial water-using processes <br /> <br />4.3,1 Cunent measures <br />All ofNWCWD's commercial and industrial customers are metered and water conservation <br />is encouraged through rates and surcharges, <br /> <br />Page 4 <br />
