<br />2.4 Water Use <br />Customers water usage in the district is divided into three classes; residential. <br />commercial/industrial, and wholesale. The usage percentages for these classifications are; 41 % <br />ICsid""hA I, 28% COIDl1ICICialIindustrial and 31 % wholesale. <br />The annual watcruscofNWCWDhas increased from 3399 A.F. in 1988 to a high of 4869 <br />A.;F, in 1996, With 31% of the 4869 A.F. (1509 A.F.) in raw water supplied by wholesale customers <br />for their usage, leaves 3360 A.F, of raw water to be supplied by NWCWD. <br /> <br />2.5 Water Storage <br />TIelIted water is stored in two (2) one million gallon tanks and a five (5) million gallon tank <br />at the filterplanL In addition to this storage capacity, NWCWD has seven treated water storage sites <br />with a total capacity of 9.2 million gallons. Also, the District rnA;tlfA;n~ seven pumping stations, <br /> <br />2.6 Distribution System <br />NWCWD's distribution system consists ofmore than 600 miles of water 1ines rangit1g from <br />2" to 24" in diameter, The various types of water mains and service 1ines are; concreteIsteel, ductile <br />iron, lransite, PVC, copper and po1yethelene. <br /> <br />2.7 Unaccounted Water <br />NWCWD's metered water as opposed to water into the District tbru the meter at the filter plant <br />, shows a 4% or less difference for the years 1994 tbru 1997, The District is cUITently upgrading to <br />new meters using the touch-read tecbnology which will help with accuracy in meter reat1;ngl' and save <br />time. The District will also continue to test large meters for accuracy. <br /> <br />3,0 Goals of the Water Conservation Plan <br />NOl1h Weld County Water District's (NWCWD or the District) Water Conservation <br />Plan has been developed to encourage all District water users to use water more <br />efficiently. <br /> <br />4,0 Colorado House Bill 91-1154 <br /> <br />"The Water Conservation Act of 1991," requires all water utilities that supply more <br />than 2,000 acre fee of water per year to develop, adopt and implement a water use <br />eflicieocy plan, The Act requires each entity to consider a minimum ofnine specific <br />water-saving 1lIll8SUIllS. Those nine measures and their applicability to NWCWD are <br />discussed in the following sections. The Act also requires a 60 day public comment <br />period and a statement of the entity's best judgement of the role ofwater use efficiency <br />plans in water supply p1anning, <br /> <br />Page 3 <br />
