Here
are some tips:

While most of Ute's current customer base of
16,000 never have their water service involuntarily
discontinued, sometimes it is necessary.

1.

Don't ~et on the disconnect list. To avoid a
$21.00 service charge, be sure to pay bills before
the due date.

f'

Why is service discontinued? Here are the most fre-
quent reasons:

~

2. Avoid bouncin2 checks. Don't write insufficient
funds checks; Ute has a returned check service
charge and we require payments in cash to
redeem returned checks. We may also require
future payments in cash.

Non-payment of bills. If you haven't paid your
bill or made appropriate arrangements (see
Money Matters, p. 12), your account will he put
on the Disconnect List. Ute employees will
come out and shut off your water.

\.

3. Never tamper with the meter. This results not
only in immediate disconnection, but incurs a
service charge for reconnection plus repair costs.

TarnDerin~ with the meter. The District's Rules
and Regulations forbid tampering: the conse-
quence is immediate discontinuance of service.
Water will be reconnected only after the meter is
tested and a service charge plus repair costs are
paid.

2.

4. Provide phone numbers. Having your current
phone numbers means we can reach you either
day or night. For example, calling you to con-
firm a last-minute late payment could prevent a
$21.00 service charge.

More than one user on a meter without autho-
rization. The District's Rules and Regulations
require each dwelling unit to have its own meter,
unless certain criteria are met.
