YOUR SAFE DRINKING WATER

We are proud that the District's watef meets Of
exceeds all federal and state regulations for drinking
water quality. That includes regulations for testing and
reporting, as well as water quality.

In accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act of
1974 and its subsequent amendments, Ute tests for all
required contaminants. In some cases, regulations
from the Colorado Department of Health are even
more stringent than federal regs.

Most of Ute's water comes from snowmelt on the
Grand Mesa. The District also has a cooperative
agreement with the Town of Palisade which allows the
purchase of raw water each year, if available. The
District has water rights in the Colorado River which
allow us to pump water up to the treatment plant dur-
ing emergencies, however, since this is lower quality
water, this is not an option we prefer. We also have
interconnections with the City of Grand Junction and
the Clifton Water District which allows an exchange
of water during an emergency.

INITIATING SERVICE

All customers requesting new water service or a
change in water service must come into the office to
sign a "Request for Water Service Contract."

RENTER GUARANTEE DEPOSIT

Tenants who wish to assume billing responsibility
. for rental properties must fulfill three prerequisites
before signing the "Renter Guarantee Deposit
Agreement."
1. There can be no more than $20.00 owing on the
account, and no charges can be more than 30
days old.
2. All tenants must provide written authorization
from the owner or property manager stating that
the account may be put into the tenant's name.
Lease agreements stating tenant responsibility
for domestic water are accepted as authorization.
3. All tenants must place a $24.00 renter guarantee
at the time of signing for service.
In the event water service is disconnected due to
non-payment of lawful charges for water service, the
deposit will immediately be forfeited and applied to
the account. Water service will not be re-established
until all charges (including a reconnect charge) are
paid in full and a new deposit made.
The property owner and the tenant are deemed
equally liable for charges of the District. The District
assumes no responsibility for any agreements between
landlords and tenants, regardless of how made, or the
District having been notified of such agreements.
