Preliminary Results

Water

The results of the mean of differences for the pre-test and post-test period
are shown on the tables and graphs on the following pages. Winter water
use was evaluated from November through February. The table of water
consumption data shows a decrease in water use for the months of
November and December with an increase for January and a decrease for
February. These four months show evidence of water savings as this is a
time when exterior water use is at a minimum. Preliminary results show a
savings of 21.09% for these four months. The overall savings for the first
year was 12.34%.

Gas

The results of the mean of differences for the pre-test and post-test period
are shown on the tables and graphs on the following pages. Gas
consumption was evaluated from November through February. The table of
gas consumption shows an increase of gas use for November and
December, with a decrease for January and February. These four months
represent an increase in gas consumption by 13.81 %. The overall savings
for the first year was 36.93%.

Electricity

The results of the mean of differences for the pre-test and post-test period
are shown on the tables and graph on the following pages. November
through February were again the months evaluated. The table of electric
consumption shows an increase in electrical use for the months of
November, an decrease in use for the months of December, January and
February. The four months represent an increase of electrical consumption of
1.99%. The overall savings for the first year was 2.93%.

SUMMARY DISCUSSION
As in any real life project, this project had many variables to consider. The number
of total participants was reduced from 100 to 89. The reduction was primarily due
to ownership changes or other situations which were not acceptable for
evaluation. The weather was an important variable to consider during analysis.
November of 1991 was the coldest November on record. This most likely accounts
for the increase in gas and electric consumption.

4
