Town of Castle Rock
1992 Water Conservation Grant Application
Page 12

4 newsletters = $2,000 . $2,800

Local Paper: No charge

Town Newsletter: Publication space provided by the Town of Castle
Rock at no additional charge to the water fund.

Posters. Exhibits. Displavs:

$1,500

Fliers Promoting Water Conservation: $360/1,000 fliers,
7 types = $2,500

Hand-Outs: To place in sponsor shopping bags, and to identify "Castle
Rock Approved" landscaping materials and plants through sponsors =
$500

Total Publication Fees:

$9,620

Construction: Construction efforts will be undertaken mainly by the
homeowners themselves, with volunteer work provided by Commission, civic
groups, and interested sponsor groups.

Equipment or devices: This would vary per household, however an
approximation of $2,300 for simple, inexpensive indoor measures,

For applicable outdoor measures and landscape materials costs would vary
per household depending upon the current of Xeriscape, and efficient
irrigation techniques applied, Since the idea of this program is to show the
customer that water conservation measures can be effected without great
expense, the program should first begin retrofitting outdoor usage by applying
techniques to the existing measures present and changing simple measures
first. For example, if the home does not have an irrigation system, install the
use of timed devices for hoses, and mechanical devices to ensure efficient
irrigation. Another example would be to replace on a step by step basis the
high water use plants with low water use plants, and to zone the areas
accordingly, The Town on an ongoing basis will then encourage through its
use of this program in its Long-Range Water Conservation Program to take
further steps toward major renovation, as in sprinkler installation becomes
appropriate.
$10,000
These figures are based on the sponsor price lists attached, and letters
