!
\
I
I
j
I
I

CITY OF CORTEZ WATER CONSERVATION PLAN

CONSERVATION GOALS

The goals for Corte; . vater conservation program are as follows:

1} Achieve cost-effective, reliable, and permanent reduction in per capita water
demand for the City from the implementation of specific conservation measures. The
numerical goal is 270 gpcd or less from 3QO gpcd currently used. This will save about
500 affyear when the City nears full usage of its supply in 30 to 40 years. The gpcd is
calculated from estimated population within the service area with the total raw water
delivered by the DWCD at the City's pipeline.

2} A short-term goal Is to fully meter all lines in the City that serve water. The
primary un-metered water users are parks irrigation and larger City buildings. All meters
should be installed by 1997. This would allow the City to more closely monitor its water
losses that are currently unaccounted for.

5
