<br />0) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 819 <br />SERIES 1996 <br /> <br />u[ <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM <br />FOR THE CI1Y OF CORTEZ, COLORADO, TO PROMOTE EFFICIENT USE OF <br />WATER WITHIN THE CI1Y. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI1Y OF CORTEZ, <br />COLORADO, IN REGULAR MEETING ASSEMBLED: <br /> <br />J. INTENT <br /> <br />It is the intent of the City to promote water conservation in such way as to have <br />efficient consumption of all water usage by residents, businesses, and local <br />governments, and to provide beneficial uses of our water resources. <br /> <br />The following items are the basis for providing a Water Conservation Program. <br /> <br />A) Conservation of water and the promotion of efficient usage is important to the <br />City. <br /> <br />B) Implementation of a Water Conservation Plan will help extend existing water <br />supplies to serve more uses. <br /> <br />C) Reduction of summer water usage with lower demands can result in deferring <br />future capital expenditures. <br /> <br />D) The State of Colorado has determined that each water supplier that treats 2,000 <br />acre feet or more of water must have a Water Conservation Plan adopted in <br />1996. <br /> <br />II. ADOPTION OF A WATER CONSERVATION PLAN <br /> <br />I A) There is hereby adopted by reference as though the same were fully printed <br />I herein, the City of Cortez Water Conservation Plan. Update~ .c:opie~ qf the plan.. <br />_____n________. are on meTr11ffifP'ubhc Works Department and copies are available to the public <br />for the cost of reproduction. <br /> <br />B) The City of Cortez Water Conservation Plan is designed to be a dynamic <br />document intended to be modified and added on to in a regular basis. <br />Modifications to the Plan may be done by resolution. <br /> <br />III. PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />This Ordinance shall be considered for second and final reading on Tuesday, the <br />25th day of June, 1996, at 7:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers in the City Hall in Cortez, <br />Colorado, at which time all persons desiring to appear and be heard concerning the <br />same may do so. <br /> <br />n.n <br />
