Designing automatic irrigation systems with separate controls for zoning
to meet various watering requirements.

Sewer Rates. A sewer rate structure based on inside water use was implemented in
April1993. This rate structure promotes conservation by correlating sewer fees with actual
water use.

Commercial/Industrial Water Conservation Measures

The following measures apply to the commercial/industrial sector.

Advanced Plumbing Regulations. This measure is the same as the residential
plumbing regulations with the addition of:

· UL V urinals
· Encourage application of other low-flow devices as practical
· Encoumge the wise use of water

Water Consultations. The District will offer free water consultation to
commercial/industrial users. The audit team will identify specific ways that the entity can
reduce water consumption and wastewater flows and loads. Examples include:

Identifying leaks
Reducing blowdown requirements
Reviewing cleanup procedures

Exploring reuse alternatives
Monitoring current uses

After consultation, the audit team will prepare a brief report specifying ways the facility
can reduce water consumption. For multiple similar businesses, the audit team could perform
group audits.

New Development Low Water Use Landscape Design. As with the residential
sector, the District will develop landscape design criteria for new property development.
