This measure is the same as the <br />commerciaVindustrial sector measure and will be applied to new public and utility construction. <br /> <br />Irrigation Upgrade Program. This measure will continue District efforts to upgrade <br />park and open space irrigation operations. <br /> <br />New Landscape Guidelines. As with the other sectors. the District will develop and <br />upgrade landscape guidelines for new municipal facilities. <br /> <br />Agency Water Consultations. As with the commercial/industrial sector, the District <br />will provide consultation for the reduction of water usage in the public sector. <br /> <br />Water Wasting Regulations. Under this measure, the District will review and update <br />existing regulations to educate consumers on the wasteful use of water and to encourage wise <br />water use practices for all customer classes. <br /> <br />Reclaimed Water. In December 1979, the Jack G. Raub Company published a report <br />entitled Demonstration Proiect for Beneficial Reuse of Hie-hlands Ranch Wastewater. The <br />fmdings of this study recommended: <br /> <br />· Proceed toward implementation of a demonstration project in the Marcy <br />Gulch drainage based on development in that drainage and other possible <br />reclaimed wastewater uses, such as golf course, tree fanns, turf fann, <br />and/or agricultural irrigation. <br /> <br />· Detennine impacts on the NPDES pennit process. <br /> <br />· Investigate future potential for irrigation in the Dad Clark Gulch Basin <br />with respect to soils suitability and the need for a barrier interception <br />. - .coocept, {}r{)tiler-reu~e-seeIlllI"i<r,-w-restrictreturn flows from entering-the - - - <br />gulch and directly impacting drinking water supply. <br /> <br />The District will continue to monitor the appropriateness of reuse as the Marcy Gulch <br />Basin is further developed and providing the opportunity for a demonstration reuse project. <br />When feasibility and cost-effectiveness criteria are met, the first phase demonstration project can <br />proceed. <br /> <br />Public Education. The District will further advance and upgrade ongoing public <br />education programs on the wise use of water. This measure will include developing educational <br />infonnatioil and resources for topics such as turf management, retrofitting devices, and changing <br />water wasting habits. <br /> <br />Systemwide Use Reduction. The District will review systemwide audit procedures <br />and water use patterns to reduce unaccountable use and further reduce other uses, as appropriate. <br /> <br />71........."" <br />
