A home water audit guide will include tips for detennining how <br />to cut both interior and exterior water usage. The homeowner package will include: <br /> <br />· Two toilet tank displacement devices <br />· Two leak: -detection tablets <br />· A rain gauge <br />· Instruction manual <br /> <br />The instruction manual will include methods for determining if the homeowner is <br />overwatering the lawn, a guide to home meter reading, and other useful water-saving ideas. The.. <br />home water audit kits will be advertised for pick-up at the District offices and/or provided <br />through local schools as an educational program. <br /> <br />Showerhead Exchange. Showerhead exchange will be considered as a second phase <br />to the Home Water Audit measure. The District will provide either UL V showerheads or rebate <br />coupons, good at participating home improvement or hardware stores, for replacing water <br />wasting showerheads. <br /> <br />Showerheads will be provided on a voluntary. Based on initial results, the measure <br />would be continued in subsequent years. <br /> <br />Showerheads shall meet the requirements of the Federal Energy Policy Act of 1992 as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Showerheads shall have a maximum water use of 2.5 gallons per minute when <br />measured with a flowing water pressure of 80 pounds per square inch. <br /> <br />New Development, Low Water Use Landscape Design. This measure is designed <br />to encourage the use of low water use landscaping in all new residential developments. In <br />QoJ!juncti01L.witltthe- Highlands.-Ranch-.Q9IIIIIlunity-Assoeiation,-the District wilt utygrade and . <br />further develop a set of Xeriscape standards for optional low water use landscaping designs. <br />These standards would identify types of irrigation systems to be installed, soil testing <br />requirements, and soil preparation requirements. Recommended specifications include: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Limiting turf to 50 percent of total irrigated landscape with use of at least <br />75 percent drought-tolerant fescue (or other approved turf species) by <br />weight for turf seed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Scarifying ground to a depth of 6 inches and amending with high quality <br />topsoil. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Installing a surface layer of organic mulch around all shrubs and plant <br />material. <br /> <br />· Consolidating turf areas for efficient irrigation. <br /> <br />,,'lI;.I;C:., <br />
