East Cherry Creek Valley Water & Sanitation District
Water Conservation Plan

Section 2
Inventory

2.1 Quantifying Current Supply Sources

At the present time, 100 % of the District's water supply is derived from wells tapping the Denver
Basin aquifers. Ground water is currently being produced from 33 wells. If all of the wells
currently in operation could be pumped simultaneously the wells would discharge approximately
8,965 gallons per minute. If the wells owned or under the control of the District were drilled and
connected to the system the aggregate yield would be 11,868 acre feet per year.

2.2 Existing Water Conservation Measures

The following is a list of water conservation measures the District currently addresses, along with
a brief description of each.

EXISTING WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES

1. Metering
+

All water connections are fully metered and all accounts are billed for full water
usage.

2. Water-efficient fixtures
+ Plumbing Codes: Arapahoe County subscribes to the Uniform Construction
Codes, including the 1991 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code which requires
installation of 1. 6 gallon per flush water closets, 2.75 gpm showerheads, and 2.75
. gaHem per-minutd'lowfaucets. . . . - - -.. - - - - - - - - - - -

.
3. Distribution system leak repair
+ The District conducts leak detection when conditions indicate possible excessive
water use. An overall leak detection program has not been pursued due to the high
percentage of billed water to supplied water.

4. Dissemination of information/Water Audits
+ Brochures on water efficient landscaping have been made available annually at the
Eagle Crest High School Marching Band Plant Show.
+ In past years Xeriscaping brochures have been provided to new residents.

2
