Publicitv of the results in our area: This project will be advertised by the City of Canon City, both through in-house advertising (brochures and word-of- mouth) and through radio and newspaper. Along with other water conservation information, the model project will be promoted at our annual Music and Blossom Festival Weekend, which brings thousands of citizens and visitors to our downtown area. The Cooperative Extension Service intends to utilize this model as an educational tool for its clients. Due to its location in a governmental park, this model will be seen by those frequenting the City's Municipal Court and Police Department, as well as those visiting the several Fremont County facilities located within the park. They include the Department of Social Services, the Fremont County Sheriff's office, and future Recreation District soccer playing fields and other proposed offices. 3. We are interested in where you got the idea for your project. Please indicate what research you have done or what resources you used in developing your project idea. (books, individual contacts, etc.) Through the partnership meetings held between those resources listed above, the idea of a model site was initiated. It became apparent to this group that education of our public on the various elements of xeriscape would be very difficult without this component of our Conservation Plan. Much of the research has already been done by our department and the agencies involved in this project. We have also looked to the City of Colorado Springs who currently has a Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. Their model is most similar to that which we anticipate for our project. 4. Please identify any community involvement anticipated or planned as part of your project. The residents of Canon City remain involved in every facet of our work. We intend to solicit ideas and feedback from our public relative to this project. In addition, the Master Gardener group of the Fremont County Extension offices will be involved in this project and provide feedback and ideas for the demonstration garden. There are several garden and service clubs in our area, as well as our local school district, who will be solicited for site visits and programs at this location.
