.

.

5. How might you propose sharing the results of the project with
your community?

We intend to share the results of this project with the
community through radio, newspaper, and brochure advertising.
As we are a relatively small town, projects undertaken by the
City tend to be focussed upon by the community. This project
will generate a great deal of interest by the community.
Utilization of the CSU senior students for the design
preparation of this garden will also be a topic of interest to
our residents.

6. Describe any innovative features of your project or
anticipated benefits to your agency and others.

This model will serve to bring every citizen who has an
interest in this type of landscaping to the building which is
typically frequented only by those who have business with the
police or municipal court. This garden will serve as a
reminder that this public building is the property of the
citizens.

This project will be unique to our area. Benefits to our
agency and our citizens include water conservation, cost
savings, and hands-on educational elements. The City's water
conservation plan will be enhanced and one element satisfied
with this project. The Fremont County Extension office
benefits through the use of this model in presentations
regarding xeriscaping. Our public building will set an
example by being attractively landscaped with water
conservation practices in mind, benefitting the community as
a whole.

7. If the planning and/or implementation of your project involves
more than one agency, please list all participants.

It is anticipated that the Colorado State Cooperative
Extension service and Colorado State University shall assist
in the planning and design stage of this project. Either a
contractor or city crews will be responsible for installation.
It is anticipated that the Fremont County Extension service
and the Sangre de Cristo Resource Conservation and Development
agency will assist with the development of text for the
educational brochures and signage.

8. Estimation of time to complete project (months).

We anticipate starting with the design of this project very
early in 1997, with work scheduled to begin in April, 1997.
Completion of the demonstration garden should be achieved
within 10 months, with brochures and identification signs to
be completed within l8 months from the date of the grant
contract.
