Where determined to be financially iustified for individual City departments. implement
central irrigation con'trol for irri!!ated city-owned landscapin!!.

At this time, the Parks and Recreation Department is the only city department with
anywhere near enough irrigated landscape and number of sites under its jurisdiction to
justify the cost of a central control system. The Parks and Recreation Department has
purchased the central computer for the system and installed three satellite controllers, with
the most recent being at Greenbriar park in 1993. No new satellite controllers were added
in 1994.

There are an additional 17 sites that could eventually become part of the central control
system. Park budgets are currently stretched to the limit, and it is doubtful that any of these
sites will be added to the system unless additional funding is secured. As the City installs
new irrigation systems on City-owned land, the likelihood of their being added to the central
control system is much higher. That is due to a strong intent to add a "line item" for this
cost, as part of the original construction budget.

11. The
loan program is available to metered customers who: (1) have galvanized or corroded
service lines in need of replacement, (2) have leaking pipes or plumbing fixtures in need of
repair, or (3) wish to reduce their water consumption by installing ultra-low flush toilets.
Approximately $50,000 has been set aside in an account for these loans. The amount
budgeted to the account, in addition to the qualifying water conservation measures, will be
occasionally reassessed and subject to change.

5
